Last week, we made it a little bit easier–and alot more rewarding–to give something back to Indigenous Peoples and independent media.
What did we do? We opened a new space for benefactors, people just like you who want to do more than toss money into a hat every now and again.
It made sense to us. After all, our readers, who come from all over the world to learn about the contemporary struggles of the world’s Indigenous Peoples, are much more to us than mere consumers. They are beneficiaries who are entitled to share in the fruits of our labour.
At the same time, we are not your everyday news service. We have to pay the bills like everyone else, but even so, we’re more like members of a community, an ecosystem that we serve by ensuring that the international community has access to the Indigenous Peoples movement–so that we all have the opportunity to inform ourselves about everything that’s going on around the world.
We’re doing a pretty good job so far.
It’s just not enough. With more than 6000 Indigenous Peoples and Nations in the world, there is so much more we need to cover at IC. There are crucial stories passing by every single day that we can’t cover because we can’t make ends meet.
And that brings us to why we are here today. Every healthy ecosystem in the world thrives on mutual benefit (along with every healthy community for that matter). That’s why, in the spirit of reciprocity, we’ve decided to give back even more to each and every reader who helps us to sustain IC Magazine.

But this work is increasingly difficult to sustain.
We refuse to lock our reporting behind a paywall. We don’t sell access through subscriptions.
And we don’t answer to advertisers. IC Magazine survives solely because readers like you choose to
