I remember the other day a protest sign that caught my eye and stirred my interest. The sign observed that while tens of millions were cut from Canada’s budget for First Nations children, an equivalent amount was simultaneously appropriated for a reenactment of the war of 1812. In today’s Dominion, Natascia Lypny reports from Halifax, where the community is fighting back against the federal government’s callous cutting of funds for Aboriginal Youth programs.
