Brazil has long had a Pentecostal problem, but the recent appointment of an Assembly of God pastor to head the Human Rights and Minorities Commission does not bode well for gays, blacks or indigenous peoples. As Jandira Queiroz reports, a racist, homophobic, Pentecostal prophet could never have made it that far without the pandering of progressive politicians.
